\"\"<\/a>By now you should already know that we\u2019re headed to Yorkdale for our new project, The Yorkdale<\/a>. Cue applause and cheer.<\/p>\n

Yes, we\u2019re going north of Bloor because believe it or not, there\u2019s still plenty of fun to be had outside of our little Toronto downtown core. Besides some of the best shopping in the city (sorry Bloor St., you\u2019re fine and all until it starts to snow), there\u2019s also plenty of amenities in and around the Yorkdale \u2018hood including Downsview Park<\/a>!<\/p>\n

We like Downsview Park all year-long because there\u2019s something to do almost all the time, and it\u2019s known for its awesome sporting and entertainment venues. There\u2019s music concerts, cultural festivals, sporting events, summer camps, tournaments and more.<\/p>\n

Quick history lesson<\/a> because you know we love our history: Downsview Park used to be \u00a0a former military base. It\u2019s about 572 acres of land, with more than half now being used for parks, commercial buildings, and community services.<\/p>\n

Some events coming up this summer include Downsview Park Nature Connection<\/a> (June 22) which is a free nature program for the family and perfect to kick off the summer, Canada Day Fireworks<\/a> (July 1) starting at 10 PM, Veld Music Festival <\/a>(August 2-3) featuring Calvin Harris, Rastafest 2014<\/a> (August 23) which is a celebration of the Rastafarian lifestyle and history, and Riot Fest Toronto 2014 (September 6-7).<\/p>\n

You can also register for sporting leagues, like volleyball and soccer, which are held in The Hangar,<\/a> one of the facilities of the Downsview Park Sports Centre. \u00a0Bonus: Downsview Park is also home to the Toronto FC Academy and Training Facility which is where the team trains.<\/p>\n
