Summer’s stifling heat can make staying inside all to easy, and winter’s basically an 8 month hibernation, but fall? Fall is when our city’s at its most walkable, most liveable and, sometimes, most beautiful. Here’s five reasons we’re glad the weather’s cooling down.

1. TIFF is here!

The film festival’s 40th anniversary celebration is underway, and we couldn’t be happier. TIFF’s a big deal on the world stage, and it’s great to see us in the news internationally. The caliber of the stars and the films gets better every year. We know Toronto’s a world-class city, and TIFF is one of those opportunities to show the rest of the world just how amazing we can be. Plus, last call at over 40 bars city-wide is pushed until 4am! You can’t lose.

2. Fall leaves

One of the best things about living in the city is proximity to urban life and a bit of fresh air. Once the colours are in full bloom, heading less than an hour out of town to Whitby’s conservation area, Barrie or Kleinburg will let you take in the leaves in all their glory. There’s no better place to down some apple cider and remember why Canada’s one of the most beautiful countries in the world, before shooting back home to the city.

3. Fall Fashion

Whether you’re headed to Yorkdale or downtown for some independent boutiques, Canadians are some savvy cold-weather dressers. We do cozy layers and autumn colours better than almost anyone. Grab a window seat and people watch, or go stock up yourself – this is one time when living with all four seasons has a major upside.

4. International Festival of Authors

You know we’re big bookworms here at Context, so having this event held in Toronto is extra-exciting for us. See readings, interviews, and find your next amazing read at this multi-day event – we’ll see you there. Check out more information here.

5. Nuit Blanche

Our all-night art party is like nothing else, and we’re proud of that! This year’s lineup, honouring their 10th year, is above and beyond, and we can’t wait to put on our walking shoes and explore the city. Have you planned your trip yet? Check out the itenerary!

What are you excited about this fall?
