A Festive Construction Update

If you’ve been up around Yorkdale lately you will have noticed there’s been a lot of excitement and development going on. Not only at the shopping centre, but also at The Yorkdale Condominiums! This project is the first phase in the 100-acre master planned community just south of the shopping mall. The 15-storey condo will be a gem in the neighbourhood, adding to the already thriving area. We’ve reached some exciting construction milestones, and thought an update might be the perfect holiday gift to our purchasers and followers.

Having completed the excavation, the crews are hard at work forming and constructing the parking garage walls, and are busy pouring slab on grade for roughly 70% of the P2 parking! As you can see in the photos, columns have begun to be formed, as well as the ramp walls of the parking garage. A small portion of the north west corner of the lot has had suspended slab poured for the P1 level parking. We’re expecting to be at grade level towards the end of January, finishing up P2, moving on to the footings, and continuing some underground activity in some parts of the lot. Early in the new year revised Occupancy Dates will be sent to all of our phase one purchasers.

While we were visiting the area we thought we’d also pop in the shopping centre to see how they’re preparing for the holidays. The massive tree, set up by 20 people and taking 40 hours to complete, is embellished with 7,000 Swarovski crystals and 20,000 lights! The outside of Nordstrom is all dressed up for the season, as are their stylish and festive mannequins. All in all, things at Yorkdale are about as busy and thrilling as the activity in Santa’s workshop! We can’t wait to see how things progress!
