A Look at Celestica as Wynford Green

The plan for the ‘Celestica site’ found at 844 Don Mills Road in North York has been reimagined in many different ways, and more than a few times since 2014. With the Crosstown LRT set to run right through the area, a focus on creating a dynamic, mixed-use space has become the driving force behind this development. With a new application having been submitted, the vision of the site has evolved in yet another new and exciting way.

The project now being known as ‘Wynford Green’ instead of Celestica Lands, is a development that’s coming to life with the help of our partners Diamondcorp and Lifetime Developments. Together, we’re bringing new life to the corner of Eglinton and Don Mills on the 60 acre site that currently features existing industrial and office facilities. The plan is to create a development featuring commercial space, office buildings, and mid-rise buildings, townhomes,. The entire area will be connected through a series of important infrastructure such as new roads, pedestrian paths, and bike trails, with parks and open spaces dotting the area’s tapestry.

The area will be divided into 15 different blocks, with a total of 71 new buildings, the majority of which will be townhouses. There will also be 9 residential towers, each featuring main level retail space. In total the proposal calls for a whopping 3,887 separate units, with a mix of one, two, and three bedroom units.

The site will also feature 170,000 square feet of space dedicated to recreational use, including a beautiful community centre boasting a hockey arena, indoor basketball courts, as well as an indoor swimming pool. A 2.5 acre public park will surely be a main feature of the community and it’ll even have a community centre located across from it! The area will also feature a charming main street that will run through the centre of the site. This area will have a central plaza, quaint outdoor seating, and boutique shops that line the strip. Another key feature of the development is the direct access that it will have to the future Science Centre LRT station, giving the community quick and easy access to the new transit development.

The planning is still in early stages, but with a glimpse at the renderings and the concept, we think Wynford Green is certainly worth talking about!
